Life in the Round
In a world of straight lines... one man threw us for a loop.
Antti Lovag is best known as the creator of the bubble home. This adventurer and artist, who had an architect friend sign his building plans because he did not have a degree, is now recognized as one of the most original voices in architecture. His fantastical bubble palaces, some of which are classified as national historic monuments in France, are a beacon for future generations. They challenge us to imagine and do things differently - to turn away from the straight path.
But packing people into square boxes comes at a cost ... straight lines lead us blindly in one direction. This film shows us another way. It is a poetic meditation on the vision of a singular man who, through his life and the structures he built, invites us to ask the big questions: Are we living in homes which are good for us? Do we even have the choice? How do our homes impact our relationship with nature? How might society have evolved differently outside these confines?
Lovag's bubble homes urge us to take another path, to look at the world with childish wonder, to create living spaces which reflect our nature and make us happy and, most importantly, to live outside the box.
